The Bandi Bhagirath POCSO Case has taken a major turn after the Telangana government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. The SIT will be led by Kukatpally DCP Ritiraj and will investigate all aspects related to the allegations made in the case involving Bandi Bhagirath, son of senior BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
The development has triggered strong political reactions in Telangana, with both ruling and opposition parties closely monitoring the investigation. Officials said the SIT was formed to ensure a detailed and transparent probe due to the sensitivity and public attention surrounding the case.
According to police sources, the investigation team will collect evidence, examine digital records, question individuals linked to the case, and verify all allegations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Authorities have not disclosed many details publicly because the matter involves provisions related to minors and sensitive legal procedures.
The Telangana Police are expected to follow strict legal guidelines during the investigation. Officials stated that the SIT has been instructed to conduct the probe professionally and submit findings based on evidence gathered during the inquiry. Senior police officers are also expected to monitor the progress of the case closely due to its political significance.
The Bandi Bhagirath POCSO Case has already become one of the most discussed political and legal issues in the state. Social media platforms have seen intense debate after reports regarding the SIT formation emerged. Supporters of different political parties have reacted strongly, while several leaders have called for an unbiased investigation.
BJP leaders have demanded that the investigation remain free from political influence. Some party members alleged that opposition parties may attempt to use the case for political targeting ahead of future elections in the state. At the same time, leaders from rival parties said the law should take its course without interference, regardless of political background.
Legal experts say the formation of an SIT usually indicates that the government considers the matter serious and sensitive. Special Investigation Teams are often constituted in cases that require detailed coordination, technical analysis, and faster investigation processes. In high-profile matters, SITs are also formed to improve public confidence in the investigation process.
The POCSO Act is one of India’s strictest laws aimed at protecting minors from sexual offences. Cases registered under the law are handled with confidentiality, and authorities are restricted from revealing the identity of victims. Police officials have therefore remained cautious while sharing information related to the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, political tension in Telangana has increased after the SIT announcement. Several leaders have exchanged allegations and counter-allegations over the handling of the case. The issue is expected to remain a major talking point in state politics over the coming days as more developments emerge from the investigation.
Officials said the SIT will continue collecting evidence and recording statements as part of the inquiry. Further legal action, if required, will depend on the findings of the investigation and the evidence submitted before the court. Authorities have appealed to the public and media to avoid spreading unverified information related to the case.
With the Telangana government now formally stepping into the matter through a Special Investigation Team, attention remains focused on how the Bandi Bhagirath POCSO Case investigation progresses in the coming weeks.
