Editorial Policy
IMN India is a news website run out of New Delhi. This page explains how we decide what to cover, how our stories are put together, and what we do when we get something wrong.
What we cover
We report on politics, crime, business, technology, entertainment and other news from across India, along with international stories that matter to our readers. We don’t accept payment in exchange for favourable coverage, and we don’t let advertisers choose or influence what we write about.
How a story gets written
Most of our stories start from official sources — government releases, court orders, police statements, company announcements, or established news agencies. For breaking events like accidents, fires or crimes, our reporters check with police or local authorities before publishing, and we update the story as confirmed details come in rather than guessing ahead of the facts.
When a story involves an ongoing investigation or court case, we stick to what’s been officially confirmed and avoid calling anyone guilty before a court has actually said so. If a story is based on reports that haven’t been officially confirmed yet, we say that clearly in the piece instead of presenting it as settled fact.
News versus opinion
Anything that isn’t a straight news report — analysis, opinion pieces, or sponsored content — is labelled as such. We don’t disguise paid content as regular news.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes. When that happens and someone points it out, whether that’s a reader, the subject of a story, or our own editor catching it later, we fix it and add a short note at the bottom of the article saying what changed and when. We don’t quietly edit a published story without leaving a record of it.
Who’s behind this
IMN India is owned and run by Indra Shiva. We’re not affiliated with any political party, government body, or corporate group, and our coverage isn’t directed by any of them.
