In a significant development in the Bandi Bageerath POCSO case, a court hearing on the accused’s interim bail application took a crucial turn when documentary evidence confirmed that the victim is legally a minor.
The victim’s counsel, Advocate Pappu Nageshwara Rao, presented hospital birth records to the court, revealing that the victim was born on August 10, 2008. This makes her 17 years and 3 months old at the time of the alleged assault firmly placing the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Both the court and the counsel for the accused acknowledged and accepted the victim’s minor status.
“HONEY TRAP” NARRATIVE DEMOLISHED IN COURT
Advocate Pappu Nageshwara Rao directly addressed and dismantled the widely circulated claim that the victim had attempted to extort Rs 5 crore from the accused. Presenting bank account evidence, the counsel argued that the financial records tell an entirely different story the victim had in fact transferred more money to Bandi Bageerath than she received from him. The claim of a honey trap or monetary extortion was rejected as false and unsupported by evidence.
FOUR MORE ALLEGED VICTIMS, COUNSEL REVEALS
In a startling disclosure, the victim’s counsel informed the court that there are at least four other alleged victims of Bandi Bageerath who are currently too afraid to come forward. The counsel also stated that the accused has a documented history of violence, including ragging and assault of classmates, with videos reportedly available as evidence. The defence counsel acknowledged these prior cases but noted they had been legally quashed.
COURT RESERVES ORDER ON INTERIM BAIL
Judge T. Madhavi Devi, after hearing arguments from both sides, reserved her order on the interim bail application, stating she requires additional time to review all material placed before the court. Defence counsel Advocate Niranjan Reddy had appealed for interim bail, no coercive action, or oral directions to the police. The victim’s counsel Advocate Pappu Nageshwara Rao strongly and vehemently opposed the bail request. The order will be pronounced at the next vacation court session. As of now, no bail has been granted.
BACKGROUND
Bandi Bageerath is the accused in a POCSO case that has drawn significant public attention across Telangana. The case had earlier been clouded by misinformation on social media, with several users spreading narratives that questioned the victim’s age and attempted to portray the case as a consensual arrangement or extortion attempt. Court proceedings have legally settled the question of the victim’s age she is a minor and the false narratives that targeted her have been firmly contradicted by evidence presented before the court.
