Myanmar President PM Modi Talks Focus on Security, Trade and Regional Cooperation
Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing has assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Myanmar’s territory will not be allowed to be used against India’s security interests, reaffirming a key commitment that has long been central to bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries.
The assurance came during wide-ranging talks held in New Delhi as the two leaders discussed strengthening cooperation across a broad spectrum of areas including security, defence, trade, connectivity, energy, border management and emerging technologies.

Prime Minister Modi also reaffirmed India’s support for Myanmar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both leaders underscored the importance of preventing the misuse of sovereign territory for activities considered inimical to the security interests of either country.
Security cooperation remains one of the most important pillars of India-Myanmar relations due to the extensive 1,640-kilometre border shared between Myanmar and several northeastern Indian states, including Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.
