New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for a PM Modi foolproof examination system, stressing the need for transparent, secure and credible public examinations. His remarks came amid the ongoing Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reforms (CJP) protest in the national capital, where students and activists have been demanding accountability over the alleged NEET paper leak and broader reforms to India’s examination process.
Addressing the Lok Sabha during the Monsoon Session, the Prime Minister said the credibility of public examinations must be safeguarded and that the government is taking every possible step to ensure transparency and fairness in the system. He stressed that the aspirations of millions of students depend on the integrity of competitive examinations and said no compromise would be made on the issue.
PM Modi Foolproof Examination System: Centre Pushes for Stronger Exam Reforms
Speaking in Parliament, Modi said the Centre is working to strengthen the examination framework to eliminate irregularities and restore public confidence. He reiterated that those found guilty of manipulating recruitment or entrance examinations would face strict legal action, while institutions responsible for conducting examinations would be made more accountable.
The Prime Minister also urged lawmakers to rise above political differences on matters concerning students and support efforts to build a secure and transparent examination system. According to him, ensuring fairness in examinations is essential to protecting the future of the country’s youth and maintaining trust in public institutions.
His remarks come as the government continues to defend its handling of the alleged NEET paper leak while assuring students that corrective measures are being implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Government Highlights Measures Against Examination Irregularities
During the discussion, the government highlighted several steps taken to curb examination-related malpractice. These include stricter legal provisions against paper leak syndicates, closer coordination between investigating agencies and examination authorities, and enhanced monitoring of examination processes.
The Centre has maintained that multiple investigations into alleged paper leak cases are underway and that action has been initiated against those found involved. Officials have repeatedly stated that individuals responsible for compromising the integrity of public examinations will be prosecuted under the law.
The government has also maintained that reforms are being introduced to strengthen security protocols and improve transparency in the conduct of competitive examinations.
CJP Protest Continues Over NEET Paper Leak Issue
The Prime Minister’s statement comes against the backdrop of the ongoing CJP protest in Delhi, where students and civil society groups have continued to demand accountability over the alleged NEET paper leak. Protesters have been calling for comprehensive reforms in the examination system, stronger safeguards against paper leaks and greater transparency in the functioning of examination authorities.
The demonstrations gained national attention after clashes between protesters and police during the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march earlier this week. Although the protest has continued peacefully at Jantar Mantar following the clashes, organisers have maintained that their demands remain unchanged and have urged the government to implement structural reforms rather than offering only assurances.
Protest leaders have argued that repeated examination controversies have affected the confidence of students preparing for highly competitive entrance and recruitment examinations. They have also called for faster investigations and stronger institutional accountability to prevent future irregularities.
Opposition Seeks Greater Accountability
The issue also sparked political reactions in Parliament, with opposition leaders questioning the government’s handling of examination-related controversies and demanding stronger accountability from agencies responsible for conducting national-level tests.
While acknowledging the Prime Minister’s assurance, opposition members argued that concrete implementation of reforms would be the true measure of the government’s commitment. They reiterated demands for greater transparency in examination processes and stronger safeguards to protect the interests of students.
The government, however, maintained that it has already initiated corrective measures and remains committed to ensuring that public examinations are conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
As the CJP protest continues and discussions over examination reforms remain active in Parliament, the issue is expected to stay at the centre of the national debate. With students seeking tangible action and the Centre promising a more secure examination framework, attention will now be on how quickly these assurances translate into lasting reforms.
