Kandivali East Murder Case: Body Found Near Sanjay Gandhi National Park
The Samta Nagar Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly murdering his 17-year-old girlfriend in a forested area near the Lovegarh locality on the outskirts of Sanjay Gandhi National Park at Kandivali East, Mumbai, in a case that has drawn attention to the dangers faced by young women in isolated urban fringe areas.
The victim’s body was discovered by residents on Friday, following which they immediately alerted the authorities. A police team rushed to the spot and launched an investigation upon receiving the information.
During the preliminary probe, officers found that the teenager had suffered a brutal assault with multiple injuries on various parts of her body. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and a case of murder has been registered by the Samta Nagar Police.
Kandivali East Murder Case: Accused Identified and Arrested
Investigators identified the accused as 29-year-old Waghmare, who was allegedly in a relationship with the victim. Police said the accused suspected that the 17-year-old was also in contact with another person, which frequently led to arguments between the two.
Based on the investigation so far, police believe the accused had meticulously planned the murder before carrying it out in the secluded forested area near Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The choice of a remote, wooded location on the outskirts of the national park is consistent with a premeditated act, investigators noted.
The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and recover additional evidence related to the crime. Police are also examining the circumstances that led to the murder and whether the accused acted alone or had any assistance.
