Randhir Singh dies at the age of 79, bringing an end to one of the most influential chapters in Indian sports administration. The veteran sports administrator and India’s first shooting gold medallist at the Asian Games passed away in New Delhi on Wednesday after battling age-related ailments.
According to reports, Randhir Singh had been hospitalised for several days before he breathed his last at his residence in the national capital. His passing has left the Indian sporting fraternity in mourning, with athletes, administrators, and sports organisations remembering his immense contribution to Indian and Asian sports.
Randhir Singh is survived by his wife Vinita and three daughters Mahima, sunaina, and Rajeshwari, who is also a shooter.

The National Rifles Association of India (NRAI) confirmed the news of his demise. NRAI Secretary Rajiv Bhatia expressed grief over the loss and paid tribute to the veteran sports administrator.
“With deep sorrow, we share the sad news of the passing of Raja Randhir Singh, who left for his heavenly abode today, on 27th May 2026,” Bhatia said in a statement.
