Senior Congress leader D K Shivakumar Karnataka Chief Minister took oath as the 25th Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday in a grand ceremony held in Bengaluru. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office and secrecy to Shivakumar in the presence of senior political leaders, ministers, and party workers.

The swearing-in ceremony marked a significant political development in Karnataka and attracted leaders from across the country. Along with Shivakumar, senior Congress leader Dr G Parameshwar was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister. Twelve legislators also took oath as Cabinet Ministers, strengthening the newly formed government.

Interim Speaker Appointed

Meanwhile, former Deputy Speaker Rudrappa Manappa Lamani has been nominated to function as the Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly until a new Speaker is elected. The arrangement will ensure the smooth conduct of Assembly proceedings during the transition period.

The election of a permanent Speaker is expected to take place in the coming days, completing the formation of the new government structure.Political analysts believe the new government will face key challenges in balancing development goals, welfare commitments, and fiscal management while ensuring inclusive growth across urban and rural regions of Karnataka.
