Hyderabad/Karimnagar: A major controversy involving the family of senior BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has triggered intense political and public attention in Telangana after his son, Bandi Bageerath, filed a honey trap and blackmail complaint with police in Karimnagar.

The case took a dramatic turn after reports emerged that the family of the girl involved has made counter allegations and may pursue legal action under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, claiming the girl is a minor.

The allegations and counter allegations have now turned the matter into one of the most discussed political controversies in Telangana.

What Is the Bandi Bageerath Honey Trap Case?

According to the complaint filed at Karimnagar II Town Police Station, Bandi Bageerath alleged that a Hyderabad-based family from Kompally attempted to extort ₹5 crore from him after he refused to marry a girl he knew personally.

Sources said Bageerath claimed he met the girl through common friends and remained in contact with her for some time. The complaint reportedly states that the two attended social gatherings, parties, and family events together.

The FIR also reportedly mentions that they visited temples and other places during the course of their friendship.

Bageerath alleged that the girl’s family later began pressuring him for marriage and threatened to leak personal chats, photographs, and videos after he declined.

According to the complaint, he had already transferred ₹50,000 to the girl’s father, but the family allegedly continued demanding additional money.

Police officials confirmed that a case was registered based on the complaint and an investigation is underway.

Minor Girl Angle Could Change Direction of Case

The controversy intensified after the girl’s family reportedly approached authorities in Hyderabad with allegations against Bageerath.

According to sources, the family has claimed that the girl involved is a minor, raising the possibility of a case under the POCSO Act, one of India’s strictest laws dealing with offences involving children.

However, police officials have not yet publicly confirmed the girl’s age or disclosed whether a formal POCSO FIR has been registered.

Legal experts say the matter becomes significantly more serious if the girl is legally determined to be under 18 years of age.

As of now, investigators are examining documents, digital evidence, financial records, phone conversations, and statements from both sides.

Police Maintain Silence Over Sensitive Allegations

Authorities have remained cautious because of the sensitive nature of the allegations. Officials said no conclusions should be drawn until the investigation is completed.

Police sources indicated that both extortion allegations and the possible POCSO-related accusations are being examined separately.

No official statement has yet been issued by Bandi Sanjay Kumar regarding the counter allegations against his son.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are expected to seek forensic examination of electronic devices and digital communication linked to the case.

Political Reactions Emerge in Telangana

The controversy has quickly become a political flashpoint in Telangana because it involves the family of a senior BJP leader.

Opposition parties have demanded a transparent investigation, while BJP supporters argue that the allegations against Bageerath may be politically motivated.

Political observers believe the case could trigger a major debate in Telangana politics if further legal developments take place in the coming days.

Social Media Buzz and Public Attention

The case has gone viral across social media platforms, with hashtags related to Bandi Sanjay, Bandi Bageerath, honey trap allegations, and POCSO claims trending online.

However, legal experts and child rights activists have urged the public and media organizations to avoid sharing unverified information or identifying details because allegations involving a possible minor are legally sensitive.

Investigation Continues

At present, investigators are trying to determine the authenticity of the allegations made by both sides.

Police officials are expected to question all involved individuals and verify electronic evidence before taking further legal action.

With serious allegations emerging from both parties, the case is likely to remain under public and political scrutiny in Telangana over the coming days.
