Telugu actress and social media influencer Ashu Reddy has once again grabbed headlines, this time for sharing pictures of what appeared to be her engagement. The photos, shared via her official Instagram handle, went viral instantly, sparking a wave of speculation among fans and followers. However, the actress has since clarified the context of these images, which come at a time when she is embroiled in a significant legal controversy involving a UK-based NRI.
The Viral Engagement Photos
On Friday, Ashu Reddy posted a series of pictures that featured her in traditional Telugu engagement attire, complete with a diamond ring and a mysterious partner whose face was not fully revealed. The aesthetics of the photos suggested a formal ceremony, leading many to believe the Bigg Boss Telugu star had secretly taken the next step in her personal life.
However, as per reports, Ashu Reddy later clarified that the pictures were not from a real-life engagement. She revealed that the visuals were actually behind-the-scenes (BTS) shots from her upcoming web series titled “Vikram on Duty,” set to stream on JioHotstar Telugu. In her clarification post, she urged fans not to believe everything they see, stating, “Not everything that appears real is genuine.”
Ongoing ₹9.35 Crore Cheating Allegations
The timing of these photos has drawn intense scrutiny due to a pending fraud case against the actress. As per reports, a complaint was lodged by Yenumula Satyanarayana Murthy, the father of a UK-based software engineer, Y.V. Dharmendra. The complainant alleges that Ashu Reddy and her family cheated his son of ₹9.35 crore under the guise of a marriage proposal.
The allegations include:
- Financial Support: The NRI reportedly provided funds for her US education loan, a flat, luxury cars, and gold.
- Pretext of Marriage: It is alleged that the relationship and marriage promises were used as a means to extract these funds between 2018 and 2025.
- Police Action: The Central Crime Station (CCS) in Hyderabad has registered an FIR against Ashu, her father, mother, and sister.
Legal Stand and High Court Ruling
The legal battle has reached the Telangana High Court. Recently, the court refused to stay the ongoing police investigation or quash the FIR, effectively allowing the authorities to continue their probe into the financial transactions and digital evidence
In a separate legal move, the High Court had previously restrained media houses and content creators from publishing defamatory content about the actress, citing her right to privacy under Article 21. Ashu Reddy has consistently denied all allegations, maintaining that the information being circulated is false and that she will take severe legal action against misinformation.
