Z-Category Security for Speaker

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta has been granted Z-category security following a series of bomb threat emails and a recent breach at the Assembly complex.

The decision comes after a fresh security assessment by authorities amid rising concerns over safety.

Threat Emails Trigger Alarm

Officials confirmed that multiple threat emails were received on April 13 and April 15, continuing a pattern that began during the Budget session in March.

Some of the emails claimed that explosive devices had been planted inside the Delhi Legislative Assembly, prompting repeated security checks.

Major Security Breach Raises Concerns

The development follows a major breach on April 6, when a man drove a white SUV through barricades at a VIP entry gate and entered the high-security complex.

The accused reportedly reached close to the Speaker’s zone and even accessed his vehicle before fleeing the scene.

The Speaker had left moments earlier, making it a narrow escape.

High-Level Probe Underway

A high-level investigation has been launched to examine the breach, including:

  • CCTV footage analysis
  • Entry and security protocols
  • Role of security personnel, including Central Reserve Police Force

The accused has since been arrested, and multiple angles are being probed.

What Z Security Means

Z-category security is among the highest civilian protection levels in India and includes:

  • Round-the-clock armed commandos
  • Close protection teams
  • Escort vehicles and surveillance

Security Tightened Across Assembly

Authorities have significantly enhanced security measures at the Assembly complex, including stricter entry checks, reinforced barricades, and deployment of Quick Response Teams.

Investigation Continues

Officials are working to trace the origin of the threat emails while ensuring heightened vigilance across the premises.

The situation remains under close monitoring as security agencies continue their probe.
