Delhi Govt Pushes Skill Development

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a major initiative to strengthen technical education by setting up high-tech labs in four Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the capital.

The move aims to equip youth with industry-relevant skills and enhance employment opportunities.

Focus on Future-Ready Skills

The initiative will introduce state-of-the-art training in key sectors such as:

  • Power electronics
  • Electric vehicles (EV)
  • Automotive technologies
  • Industrial automation

The government plans to align training programs with evolving industry standards.

Power Electronics Lab at ITI Jahangirpuri

A modern Power Electronics Lab will be established at ITI Jahangirpuri.

It will feature advanced equipment like PLC kits, VFD trainers, solar PV systems, and smart energy monitoring tools, offering hands-on training in electrical systems and renewable energy.

Around 480 students across multiple trades are expected to benefit.

Welding Lab Upgrade at ITI Hari Nagar

The welder lab at ITI Jail Road will be upgraded with cutting-edge welding technologies such as MIG/TIG welding, plasma cutting, and simulation-based training.

This upgrade will help trainees gain precision skills and industry exposure, benefiting around 200 students.

Automotive Labs Modernisation in Nizamuddin

At ITI Arab Ki Sarai, automotive labs will be modernised with virtual reality (VR) simulators and advanced modules covering ABS and airbag systems.

This will provide practical training in modern vehicle technologies for over 200 trainees.

EV Lab in Mayur Vihar

An Electric Vehicle Lab will be set up at HJB ITI Mayur Vihar, focusing on green mobility and future automobile technologies.

Training will include battery management systems, EV motors, and charging infrastructure, benefiting around 180 students.

Boost to Employment Opportunities

CM Rekha Gupta said the initiative will transform ITIs into centres of excellence and significantly enhance employability.

“These high-tech labs will provide golden opportunities to youth and prepare them as per industry needs,” she said.

Step Towards ‘Skill India’

The initiative aligns with Skill India Mission, aiming to create a skilled and self-reliant workforce ready for emerging industries.
