Directive Issued Ahead of Government Transition

Kolkata, West Bengal: Dushyant Nariala has directed retired bureaucrats to refrain from reporting to government offices with immediate effect, in a move aimed at ensuring a smooth administrative transition.

The directive comes in the wake of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s decisive victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections.

Move Targets Retained Officials

According to officials, several retired bureaucrats had been retained by the outgoing administration led by Mamata Banerjee. The latest order instructs them to step back from official duties as the new government prepares to take charge.

BJP Registers Landslide Victory

Election results indicate a sweeping win for the BJP, which has secured 207 out of 294 seats, comfortably surpassing the majority mark. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has been reduced to 80 seats.

In a major setback, Banerjee also lost her constituency by a margin of over 15,000 votes.

Departments Asked to Secure Records

In addition to the directive, all departments have been instructed to secure official files and compile detailed inventories. The move is seen as part of standard procedures to ensure transparency and accountability during the transition period.

New Government to Take Oath Soon

The newly elected BJP government is expected to take oath on May 9, marking a significant political shift in West Bengal’s governance.
