New Delhi:
A day after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party, former Aam Aadmi Party leader Swati Maliwal launched a scathing attack on party chief Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of being “anti-women” and indulging in corruption and “gundagardi”.
Speaking to ANI, Maliwal said her decision to join the BJP was driven by belief in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I joined the BJP not under any compulsion, but because I believe in the leadership of PM Modi. I urge all those who want to do constructive politics to join the BJP,” she said.
⚠️ ‘Kejriwal Got Me Beaten Up’: Serious Allegation
Referring to a 2024 incident, Maliwal made a serious allegation that she was assaulted by Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar.
“Arvind Kejriwal had me beaten up by a goon. I was threatened when I raised my voice and pressured to withdraw my FIR,” she claimed.
She also alleged that she was denied opportunities to speak in Parliament for two years, calling it “very shameful”.
🔥 ‘AAP Has Become Corrupt and Authoritarian’
Maliwal further accused AAP leadership of:
- Suppressing dissent within the party
- Filing FIRs against those who speak out
- Running governance with a culture of intimidation
“Arvind Kejriwal is known for corruption and gundagardi,” she said.
💰 Punjab ‘ATM’ Allegation
In a major political charge, Maliwal alleged that AAP is treating Punjab — the only state where it is currently in power — as a “personal ATM”.
This claim could escalate political tensions, especially with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann already under opposition scrutiny.
🇮🇳 Praise for PM Modi & BJP Leadership
In contrast, Maliwal strongly praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, calling them decisive leaders.
She highlighted:
- Strong national security actions
- Policy decisions like women’s reservation
- Governance focused on development
“PM Modi is the most popular leader in the world and takes historic decisions,” she said.
⚖️ Political Context
Maliwal’s remarks come amid a major political churn within AAP, with multiple leaders recently quitting or aligning with BJP.
Her statements are likely to:
- Intensify the political battle between AAP and BJP
- Trigger sharp reactions from AAP leadership
- Influence public perception ahead of upcoming elections
📊 Conclusion:
Swati Maliwal’s explosive allegations have added fuel to the ongoing political crisis within AAP. While her claims are serious, they remain her version of events, and a response from Arvind Kejriwal or AAP leadership is awaited.
