New Delhi: A meeting between a delegation of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the full bench of the Election Commission of India on April 8 turned acrimonious, with both sides levelling allegations against each other.

⚠️ Heated Exchange During Meeting

According to the TMC, the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar allegedly asked the delegation to “get lost” at the end of a brief seven-minute interaction.

However, the Election Commission countered the claim, accusing members of the TMC delegation of “shouting” during the meeting.

🗣️ TMC’s Allegations

Speaking to reporters, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien said the delegation had submitted letters from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to the CEC.

“We handed over letters and apprised him of specific instances of poll officials having links with the BJP. Then he said, ‘Get lost’,” O’Brien alleged.

He further claimed that apart from the CEC, none of the other election commissioners spoke during the meeting.

🏛️ EC’s Response

Sources from the Election Commission maintained that the interaction became tense due to the conduct of the TMC representatives, alleging that they raised their voices during the discussion.

📊 Political Context

The confrontation comes amid heightened political tensions ahead of elections, particularly in West Bengal, where issues related to electoral conduct and neutrality of officials have become major points of contention.

🧩 Conclusion

The incident reflects escalating friction between political parties and the Election Commission, with both sides presenting contrasting versions of the meeting. Further developments are expected as the issue continues to unfold.
