New Delhi: The Sonam Wangchuk Hunger Strike continued to intensify on Tuesday as activist Sonam Wangchuk refused to end his indefinite fast despite deteriorating health, insisting that the government initiate meaningful dialogue instead of urging him to withdraw his protest. The development came as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) completed 25 days of its agitation while Wangchuk’s fast entered its 17th day.
According to a health bulletin released by the CJP, Wangchuk has lost around 8.5 kilograms since beginning his hunger strike. His blood pressure was recorded at 109/70 mm Hg, raising concerns among supporters and medical observers over his physical condition. Party leaders said his health continues to weaken as the fast progresses.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said Wangchuk has begun losing muscle mass and is experiencing severe physical discomfort. He revealed that several supporters had urged the activist to end his fast because of his worsening health, but Wangchuk remained firm in his decision.
According to Dipke, Wangchuk responded calmly by saying that instead of asking him to stop fasting, people should ask why the government had not agreed to open a dialogue.
