CJP Warns Fresh Nationwide Protest from Tuesday if the Centre fails to withdraw criminal cases registered against students and protesters during the recent agitation, alleging that the government has failed to honour commitments made during negotiations. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) claimed that students across several states continue to face FIRs, detentions and police action despite assurances that such cases would be withdrawn after the organisation suspended its month-long protest.
The organisation alleged that the withdrawal of criminal cases was one of the key assurances that persuaded it to suspend its agitation in good faith. According to CJP leaders, the continued registration of criminal cases against peaceful protesters represents a breach of the understanding reached with the Centre and raises serious concerns about the implementation of commitments made during the negotiations.
Protest leaders maintained that the movement was paused only because the government had indicated that it would address major demands, including issues concerning examination reforms and action against students who had participated in peaceful demonstrations. They argued that if those assurances remain unfulfilled, the organisation would have no option but to return to the streets.
CJP Warns Fresh Nationwide Protest Over Pending FIRs
Speaking at the press conference, CJP representatives alleged that students in several states continue to receive notices, remain named in FIRs and face questioning by police authorities despite repeated assurances that such action would be withdrawn. They claimed that the legal proceedings have created fear among students who exercised their democratic right to protest peacefully.
According to the organisation, the continued existence of criminal cases contradicts the spirit of the agreement reached during talks with the government. Leaders said that withdrawing FIRs was never presented as an optional measure but as an important confidence-building step before the protest was suspended.
The organisation stressed that criminal proceedings against students could discourage democratic participation and undermine trust in future negotiations. It urged the Centre to immediately instruct the concerned authorities to withdraw all pending FIRs and legal proceedings relating to peaceful demonstrations.
CJP also reiterated that it remains committed to peaceful protests and dialogue but warned that patience among students is wearing thin. Leaders said thousands of supporters are waiting for the government’s response, and failure to implement the assurances could trigger another nationwide mobilisation from Tuesday.
Saakshi Portal Launched to Document Police Action
Alongside the warning of fresh protests, CJP announced the launch of an online evidence portal named “Saakshi”. The platform has been designed to collect photographs, videos, FIR copies and other documents relating to alleged police action against students and protesters during the recent agitation.
According to the organisation, the portal will serve as a central repository where affected students can securely upload evidence from different parts of the country. CJP leaders said the collected material would be examined by legal experts associated with the movement and used to support those facing legal proceedings.
The organisation believes the portal will not only preserve important evidence but also create an organised record of alleged incidents involving police action. Protest leaders appealed to students and supporters to submit authentic material through the platform to strengthen future legal efforts and ensure that every complaint is properly documented.
Students Continue to Face Legal Action Despite Assurances
CJP leaders alleged that even after the suspension of the month-long protest, students and protesters in several states continue to face FIRs, police notices and detentions. According to the organisation, many participants have approached its legal team claiming that no action has yet been taken to withdraw criminal cases despite assurances given during discussions with the Centre.
The organisation argued that peaceful protesters should not be subjected to criminal prosecution for exercising their democratic rights. It said the continued legal action has caused anxiety among students and their families, many of whom expected relief after the government accepted key demands during the negotiations.
CJP maintained that immediate withdrawal of all FIRs and legal proceedings is essential to restore confidence among students and demonstrate the government’s commitment to the agreement reached after weeks of protests.
Tuesday Deadline Puts Pressure on the Centre
Issuing a strong warning, CJP said it would resume nationwide protests from Tuesday if the government fails to withdraw all criminal cases against students and protesters. The organisation clarified that it remains open to dialogue but insisted that discussions must now be followed by visible action rather than verbal assurances.
Leaders said the next phase of the movement would continue to remain peaceful and democratic but could witness participation from students, youth organisations and supporters across multiple states. According to the organisation, preparations for renewed demonstrations have already begun in case the Centre does not act before the deadline.
CJP also appealed to students to remain united and avoid any form of violence, stating that the movement’s objective is to secure justice through constitutional and democratic means. It urged supporters to continue documenting any alleged police action and submit evidence through the Saakshi portal.
Centre Yet to Respond to Latest Ultimatum
As of now, the Central government has not issued an official response to CJP’s latest warning or announced any decision regarding the withdrawal of FIRs. The silence has further fuelled uncertainty among protesters, who say they are waiting for concrete action before deciding their next course.
Political observers believe the coming days will be crucial, as the government’s response could determine whether negotiations resume or the country witnesses another phase of nationwide demonstrations. With Tuesday’s deadline approaching, attention is now focused on whether the Centre acts on the pending demand relating to criminal cases against students.
