A devastating fire at a hotel in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi claimed 21 lives and left 40 others injured on Tuesday morning, triggering a massive emergency response and drawing condolences from the highest levels of government including the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Union Home Minister.
The Malviya Nagar hotel fire broke out in the early hours of the morning, spreading rapidly through the building and trapping guests and staff inside. Eight fire tenders were deployed to the spot, and through coordinated efforts involving Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Services, and other emergency response agencies, more than 40 persons were rescued from the premises and shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the Malviya Nagar hotel fire, stating in a social media post that authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
The Prime Minister also announced financial assistance for the victims and their families. An ex gratia of two lakh rupees from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund will be given to the next of kin of each person who lost their life in the fire. Those injured in the incident will receive fifty thousand rupees each from the fund.
