Nashik, Maharashtra: In a major breakthrough in the high-profile Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Nashik harassment investigation, Nashik Police on Thursday arrested suspended TCS BPO employee Nida Khan from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after she allegedly remained absconding for several weeks.

The arrest comes amid an ongoing Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into allegations of sexual harassment, workplace misconduct, mental coercion, and alleged religious pressure raised by multiple women employees at the TCS facility in Nashik.

According to police officials, Khan had been evading investigators since FIRs were registered earlier this year by nine complainants, most of them women in their late teens and early twenties. The complainants alleged repeated incidents of sexual exploitation, inappropriate behavior by colleagues and supervisors, and pressure to follow specific religious practices. Some complaints also alleged mental harassment and intimidation within the workplace.

Police sources confirmed that Khan was located in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar following a joint operation conducted by the Nashik Police SIT and local police teams. She is expected to be produced before a Nashik court on Friday for further proceedings.

Earlier this month, a Nashik sessions court rejected Khan’s anticipatory bail plea, observing that the allegations were serious and custodial interrogation was necessary for the investigation. The court reportedly noted that the probe was “multidimensional and multilayered,” given the number of complainants and nature of accusations involved.

The case first came to light in March and April after several employees approached police stations in Nashik with complaints against co-workers and supervisors linked to the TCS BPO unit. The SIT subsequently registered multiple FIRs under provisions related to sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, and other offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

So far, several accused individuals connected to the case have already been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Investigators are also examining whether workplace complaints made internally were adequately addressed before the matter escalated into a criminal investigation.

Tata Consultancy Services had earlier stated that the company maintains a “zero-tolerance policy” towards any form of harassment or coercion in the workplace and is cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies during the investigation.

The case has triggered wider discussions around employee safety, corporate accountability, and grievance redressal mechanisms within large workplaces. Authorities have indicated that further investigation is underway and additional arrests or questioning may follow based on evidence collected by the SIT.
