Gym Owners Arrested in Serious Crime Case
Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh: Two brothers who operated a local fitness centre have been arrested for allegedly drugging, sexually assaulting and blackmailing a woman, police officials said.
The accused, identified as Akram Beg and Alam Beg, were associated with a gym in the city. The arrests were made shortly after the survivor filed a complaint with authorities.
Allegations of Drink Spiking and Assault
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that her drink was spiked at the gym premises, after which she was repeatedly assaulted over a period of time starting in May 2024.
She also alleged that the accused recorded objectionable videos and used them to threaten and extort money from her.
Blackmail and Extortion Claims
Police sources stated that the accused allegedly demanded large sums of money from the survivor, reportedly escalating the amount over time.
The complaint also mentions intimidation and alleged attempts to pressure the victim by targeting her family.
Police Action and Evidence Seized
Following the complaint on May 4, police registered a case and arrested both accused the next day.
Authorities said they have recovered digital evidence, including videos and substances suspected to have been used in the crime. The gym premises have also been sealed as part of the investigation.

The incident has raised concerns about safety and oversight in private fitness centres. Local residents and professionals have called for stricter monitoring and safeguards to prevent such incidents.
