Armed Robbery Shocks Singrauli
In one of the most daring daylight robberies, five armed assailants looted a Bank of Maharashtra branch in Singrauli, escaping with nearly ₹20 lakh in cash and 9–10 kg of gold and jewellery.
The robbery took place in the Baidhan area around 1 pm, sending shockwaves across the region.
Hostages Taken at Gunpoint
Eyewitnesses described terrifying scenes inside the bank as robbers:
- Held staff and customers hostage
- Confiscated mobile phones
- Threatened to shoot if resisted
A customer said the attackers abused people and demanded the manager’s presence, even issuing threats against employees’ families.
Loot Worth Crores
Police estimate the total loot — including pledged gold, jewellery, and cash — to be worth around ₹15 crore.
The robbers specifically targeted lockers containing gold pledged by customers for loans, indicating prior planning and inside knowledge.
Violence Inside the Bank
Victims reported physical assault during the robbery. One customer was hit with a gun butt and slapped multiple times when he resisted.
The robbers also fired a shot to create panic before executing the heist.
No Security Guard Present
In a shocking lapse, officials confirmed that no security guard was present at the bank during the robbery, making it easier for the attackers to carry out the crime.
CCTV Footage and Investigation
According to police:
- One आरोपी wore a helmet, others had uncovered faces
- CCTV footage has captured the suspects
- Escape was made on motorcycles
Manish Khatri confirmed that multiple police teams have been deployed and roadblocks set up across the district.
Massive Manhunt Launched
Police have sealed all exit routes in Singrauli and are coordinating with neighbouring states like Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh to track the accused.
Forensic teams are also examining the crime scene, and the exact valuation of the stolen gold is underway.
