Rampal Released After Over a Decade in Jail

Self-styled godman Rampal walked out of jail on Friday after spending more than 11 years behind bars. His release comes after he was granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in connection with the 2014 violence case.

Rampal had been lodged in a Haryana district jail since his arrest, following a high-profile crackdown that drew nationwide attention.

Bail Granted in 2014 Violence Case

The Punjab and Haryana High Court granted bail to Rampal in one of the cases linked to the 2014 violence at his Satlok Ashram. The incident had led to a major law enforcement operation and multiple casualties, making it one of the most controversial cases involving a religious figure in recent years.

Faced Serious Charges Including UAPA

Rampal was booked under several serious charges, including attempt to murder and waging war against the State. He was also charged under provisions of the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), highlighting the gravity of the allegations against him.

Despite the severity of the charges, the court granted him bail after prolonged legal proceedings.

Family and Lawyers Present at Release

Following his release, Rampal was received by his family members and legal team outside the jail. Visuals showed supporters gathering to witness his exit after more than a decade of incarceration.
