Nalgonda Police Arrest Four, Including Victim’s Niece, for Quadruple Murder Driven by Debt and Grudge
Nalgonda: Nalgonda Police have arrested four persons, including the niece of one of the victims, in connection with the murder of four members of a family in Telangana Colony, Nalgonda. Investigators said the crime was motivated by a personal grudge and the intention to steal cash, gold jewellery, and property documents.
The arrested accused have been identified as Syed Aslam (28), a taxi driver from Gandipet; his wife Tabassum (28); Mohammed Sohail (26), an auto-rickshaw driver and car mechanic from Bandlaguda; and Hemanth Kumar (28), who operates a jewellery shop in Saroornagar.
Nalgonda Superintendent of Police Sharat Chandra Pawar said that Aslam carried out the murders, while the remaining three allegedly conspired in the offence and assisted in disposing of the stolen gold.

Bodies Discovered After Foul Smell Alert
The case came to light on June 22 when residents of Telangana Colony noticed a foul smell emanating from a locked house and alerted police. Officers who visited the premises discovered the decomposed bodies of Mohammed Sultan, his wife Haseena, their son Muzammil (20), and their daughter Afkura (12).
Nalgonda Police registered a murder case and constituted seven special teams under the supervision of DSP K. Sivaram Reddy. Investigators analysed CCTV footage, collected forensic evidence, and relied on technical surveillance before apprehending the accused near the Narkatpally flyover on Thursday.
Debt, Denial, and a Family Grudge
According to investigators, Aslam had borrowed ₹1 lakh from the victim Haseena approximately a year ago. After adopting a lavish lifestyle and accumulating mounting debts, he sought a further ₹1 lakh loan to purchase a new car. Haseena allegedly refused and demanded repayment of the existing loan.
Police also found that long-standing family disputes were a factor, including a grudge linked to a criminal case involving Tabassum’s mother in 2013.
Investigators alleged that Aslam and Sohail had earlier broken into the family’s house when they were away but failed to locate any valuables. The accused later learnt that Haseena kept cash, gold ornaments, and documents related to land and bank deposits at home, which prompted Aslam to plan the murders.
Accused Searched Online for How to Kill Without Leaving Evidence
During the investigation, police found that Aslam had searched online for information on committing murder without leaving evidence, the decomposition of bodies, and methods to evade detection all before executing the crime.
According to police, Aslam drove from Hyderabad to Nalgonda on the night of June 19 carrying a knife. After waiting near the house for several hours, he entered the premises in the early hours of June 20 and attacked Haseena when she stepped outside. Sultan rushed to her aid but was also fatally attacked. Muzammil attempted to resist with an iron rod, injuring Aslam in the process, but was overpowered and killed. Aslam then allegedly killed 12-year-old Afkura, who had hidden under a bed, before fleeing with gold ornaments, cash, and property documents.
Stolen Gold Melted, ₹5.3 Lakh Received
After returning to Hyderabad, Aslam, along with Sohail, allegedly pledged the stolen gold with jewellery shop owner Hemanth Kumar, who then melted the ornaments. The accused reportedly received ₹5.3 lakh in return ₹4 lakh in cash and ₹1.3 lakh via bank transfer.
Recoveries
Nalgonda Police recovered the following during the investigation:
- ₹30.04 lakh in cash
- A five-tola lump of melted gold
- The Mahindra Marazzo car allegedly used in the crime
