Mumbai: Maharashtra TET Exam Postponed after the Maharashtra State Council of Examination decided to defer the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) following a question paper leak ahead of the examination scheduled across the state on Thursday. The decision came after confidential information indicated that certain individuals in Bhiwandi, Thane district, had gained access to questions from the examination paper before the test.

Officials said the postponement was necessary to protect the integrity of the examination and ensure that deserving candidates receive a fair opportunity. The Council also confirmed that a revised examination schedule will be announced through its official website after the investigation progresses.

Paper Leak Confirmed During Verification

According to the Maharashtra State Council of Examination, authorities received confidential information suggesting that examination material had been compromised before the scheduled test.

Based on the input, Bhiwandi Police conducted a raid at the suspected location. Officials from the Council were called to examine the material recovered during the operation.

During verification, it was confirmed that the individuals concerned had access to some of the actual questions included in the Teacher Eligibility Test paper. Following this confirmation, officials immediately decided that conducting the examination as scheduled would compromise transparency and fairness.

The Council stated that protecting the credibility of recruitment examinations remains a priority and that any indication of malpractice must be addressed without delay.

Police Launch Investigation Into Paper Leak

Following the discovery, Bhiwandi Police registered a case and began a detailed investigation into the incident.

Investigators are examining how the confidential questions were leaked, who had access to the examination material, and whether additional individuals or organized groups were involved in the alleged malpractice.

Officials have not yet disclosed the identities of those being questioned or whether any arrests have been made. Authorities said further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.

Police have assured that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible for compromising the examination process.

Council Reiterates Commitment to Fair Examinations

The Maharashtra State Council of Examination said the postponement was taken solely to ensure that the recruitment process remains transparent and credible.

Officials noted that conducting the examination after confirmation of a paper leak would have been unfair to lakhs of candidates who prepared honestly for the Teacher Eligibility Test.

The Council added that additional security measures will be reviewed before announcing the fresh examination date to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Authorities emphasized that maintaining public confidence in competitive examinations is essential and that every effort will be made to ensure the next examination is conducted without irregularities.

Candidates Asked to Follow Official Updates

Candidates have been advised to regularly visit the official website of the Maharashtra State Council of Examination for information regarding the revised examination schedule.

The Council stated that all important notifications, including the new examination date, admit card details, and other instructions, will be published only through official channels.

Officials also urged candidates not to believe unverified claims circulating on social media and to rely only on authentic announcements issued by the examination authority.

Education experts have also advised aspirants to continue their preparation so they remain ready whenever the revised examination date is announced.

Incident Raises Fresh Concerns Over Examination Security

The latest paper leak has once again highlighted concerns regarding the security of competitive examinations across the country.

Education experts believe stronger safeguards, secure handling of confidential papers, enhanced surveillance, and better coordination between examination authorities and law enforcement agencies are necessary to prevent such incidents.

They also stressed the importance of using advanced security protocols, digital monitoring systems, and strict legal action against those involved in examination-related fraud.

Many experts believe maintaining transparency is essential for protecting the interests of genuine candidates and preserving public trust in recruitment examinations.

Maharashtra TET Exam Postponed to Protect Integrity of Recruitment

The Maharashtra TET Exam Postponed decision reflects the authorities’ effort to ensure that the Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted in a fair, transparent, and secure manner.
