In a major breakthrough against the illegal trade of counterfeit pharmaceutical products, the ER-1 unit of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has dismantled a massive inter-state syndicate involved in the manufacturing and distribution of spurious life-saving drugs. According to official reports, the operation led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of counterfeit medicines worth approximately ₹6 crore.
The crackdown focused on an illegal manufacturing and relabeling unit discovered in the Mukherjee Nagar area of North Delhi. The syndicate was reportedly involved in producing and altering labels of critical medical supplies, including vaccines and insulin, which were then distributed across a network spanning Delhi/NCR, Kolkata, and parts of Northeast India.
Massive Seizure of Critical Drugs
The Crime Branch team recovered a staggering variety of counterfeit life-saving and essential medications. As per reports, the seized inventory includes:
- Vaccines: Rabies and Hepatitis-B vaccines.
- Critical Care: Human Albumin and Snake Venom Antiserum.
- Chronic Care: Insulin injections and various cancer medications.
- General Pharma: Spurious antibiotics and advanced packaging/relabeling machinery.

Modus Operandi and Arrests
The operation was spearheaded by Inspector Lichman under the direct guidance of ACP Sunil Srivastava and the overall supervision of DCP Sh. Pankaj Kumar. Investigating officials revealed that the kingpin of the racket was operating directly from the Mukherjee Nagar unit.
Alongside the mastermind, police have arrested three other associates hailing from Haryana and Prayagraj (UP). The group allegedly sourced cheap, generic drugs or used base liquids to fill vials, subsequently relabeling them as high-value, branded life-saving medicines to deceive hospitals and patients.
Authorities are currently investigating the wider supply chain to identify retail outlets and distributors who may have been complicit in selling these dangerous counterfeits to unsuspecting citizens.
