Kharge Speaks After INDIA Bloc Meeting
Following a meeting of the opposition INDIA bloc, Mallikarjun Kharge clarified the alliance’s stance on the Women’s Reservation Bill.
He stated that the opposition is not against the legislation itself but has strong objections to how it has been introduced by the government.
“We Are in Favour, But Oppose the Manner”
Kharge said:
“We are not against the Women’s Reservation Bill; we are in favour of it. However, the manner in which the government has introduced this bill is politically motivated, and we oppose it unitedly.”
Opposition’s Unified Stand
The statement reflects a united position taken by parties within the INDIA bloc, indicating coordinated opposition to the government’s approach on key legislative issues.
Political Debate Intensifies
The Women’s Reservation Bill, aimed at increasing representation of women in legislatures, has become a major point of political debate.
While there is broad support across parties in principle, disagreements remain over implementation, timing, and intent.
Focus on Legislative Process
Opposition leaders argue that the process and timing of introducing the bill raise questions, while reiterating their commitment to women’s empowerment.
The issue is expected to remain at the centre of political discourse in the coming days.
