Cockroach Janta Party Founder Abhijeet Dipke Attacked During Protest in Jaipur

Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke was attacked and slapped repeatedly by at least two individuals during a protest at the Shaheed Smarak in Jaipur on Monday, in a disturbing incident that has drawn national attention to both the growing momentum of the youth-led movement and the violent opposition it is beginning to face.

The Abhijeet Dipke Jaipur attack occurred while the CJP founder was being carried on the shoulders of his supporters during the demonstration, when a man pulled him by a cloth he was wearing around his neck before slapping and hitting him repeatedly along with another individual. The attackers were subsequently taken aside and confronted by Dipke’s supporters at the scene.

Videos of the incident circulated widely on social media, showing the moments of the attack in detail and triggering strong reactions from supporters of the movement and from commentators who have been following the CJP’s growing national profile since its first major protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on June 6.

What Happened at Shaheed Smarak During the Protest

The Cockroach Janta Party had organised the Jaipur demonstration at the Shaheed Smarak as part of a nationwide protest campaign it announced following its Delhi demonstration on June 6, 2026. At that protest, the CJP had declared that it would hold similar demonstrations across the country unless Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned within a week over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and other alleged systemic failures in India’s examination and education system.

The Jaipur attack was focused on the same themes that have defined the CJP’s campaign since its inception, namely the NEET paper leak, broader examination irregularities, education policy failures, and rising youth unemployment. The demonstration drew a crowd of supporters and was proceeding peacefully when the attack took place.

According to eyewitnesses and the video footage that has since gone viral, Dipke was being lifted on the shoulders of supporters in a celebratory gesture when the attacker approached, grabbed him by a cloth around his neck, and began slapping and hitting him. A second individual also participated in the assault before Dipke’s supporters intervened and confronted the attackers.

Who Is Abhijeet Dipke and What Is the CJP

Dipke is a 30-year-old Boston University graduate who returned to India from the United States to lead the Cockroach Janta Party’s protest movement. The CJP began as a satirical online movement, its deliberately provocative name designed to signal irreverence toward the established political system, but has evolved rapidly into a street-level activist platform with a genuine national following among young Indians.

The organisation held what it described as India’s first major Gen Z protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on June 6, 2026, drawing hundreds of participants and the support of prominent public figures including Dhruv Rathee and Sonam Wangchuk. The Delhi protest demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and called for accountability over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, which led to the cancellation of the examination for over 22 lakh students.

Following the Delhi protest, the CJP announced a nationwide campaign of demonstrations with a one-week ultimatum to Pradhan. The Jaipur incident was among the first of these follow-up demonstrations, and the incident has now made it one of the most widely covered events in the movement’s short but rapidly evolving history.

Abhijeet Dipke Jaipur Attack: Significance and Reaction

The attack on Dipke is particularly notable because of the CJP’s consistent and public commitment to non-violence. Since the movement’s inception, Dipke and other CJP leaders have repeatedly emphasised that their protests will be peaceful and symbolic, a stance underscored at the Delhi protest where demonstrators carried flowers rather than placards as a symbol of their non-violent intent.

The fact that Dipke himself has been subjected to physical violence while participating in a peaceful demonstration is likely to generate significant sympathy for the movement and may strengthen public support for the CJP’s cause among those who see the attack as an attempt to intimidate and silence legitimate youth-led civic activism.

The identity and political affiliation of the attackers have not been officially confirmed at the time of writing, and investigations are expected to be launched by Jaipur police. The attack and its aftermath, including the response of the attackers’ supporters and the police, will be closely watched by both supporters and critics of the CJP movement in the days ahead.

The Jaipur attack also raises broader questions about the safety of political activists and the environment for peaceful protest in India, themes that are likely to feature prominently in public and political discourse in the aftermath of the Jaipur incident and as the CJP continues its nationwide demonstration campaign.
